Zeus Renovations recently completed a full bathroom renovation for homeowners on King George V Drive West in Heath, Cardiff. The homeowners were struggling with an outdated aesthetic and a plumbing leak that needed urgent attention.
Over 2-3 weeks, we stripped the room back to the brick, identified and resolved the leak, and rebuilt the bathroom as a modern, accessible shower room with a walk-in shower and floor-to-ceiling tiling.
Our renovation process left the customer with a modern, accessible and functional bathroom that suited their taste, style and preferences.
When the customer first contacted us, their bathroom was suffering from three key issues:
Outdated aesthetic: The room itself looked outdated, with tired, plain white tiles and a damaged P-shaped whirlpool bath.
Unidentified leak: Clear signs of a leak appeared on the kitchen ceiling, requiring immediate investigation and repair.
Not Functional for Family Needs: The family no longer needed a bath and wanted it removed to make way for a large shower unit. They also wanted the walls, ceiling and tiles revamped.
In essence, they wanted a more aesthetically pleasing bathroom and urgently needed the leak remediated.

We stripped the room completely, removing the bath, tiles, sanitaryware, and old fittings. After stripping down, we identified the leak source stemming from the bath waste plumbing.
We then remediated the leak by removing the bath unit and its plumbing, and engaged a WaterSafe-registered plumber to run new pipework for the shower, basin, and toilet.
Once the plumbing infrastructure was fully renewed, we brought in a registered electrician to install new wiring, LED downlights, an illuminated mirror cabinet and a pull-cord light switch, along with an extractor fan to clear moisture after every shower.
Our owner Louis, who holds an NVQ in plastering, fully replastered the ceiling himself before it was painted.
We replaced the bath with a large low-profile shower tray and a ceiling-braced walk-in glass panel. Inside, we fitted a fold-down seat and chrome grab rails.
We installed large-format marble-effect tiles floor to ceiling on every wall, with new large-format dark grey tiles on the floor.
Louis suggested a recessed shower niche to add storage and reduce clutter. We also rebuilt the boiler cupboard with Shaker-style doors, so the boiler could be hidden but still easy to reach. Finally, we boxed in a small secondary window above the toilet unit to create a cleaner wall line.
To finish the renovation and add an extra dash of style, we installed a new anthracite towel radiator and an oak door to enhance the overall aesthetic.

Our renovation process, as detailed above, transformed a visually unappealing and functionally defunct bathroom into a modern, practical upgrade. The leak into the kitchen has not returned since the work was completed, and the improved aesthetic has really enhanced the property.
